It’s been many decades since a complete O Gauge model railway set in British outline was on the market. We have decided that the time is now right to release a set featuring handpicked O Gauge components from British companies such as Dapol, Peco and ourselves here at Gaugemaster.
The Terrier Class A1X locomotive Brighton Works had many different names and running numbers duriing its running history, and was the first Terrier to enter service in June 1879. Always working in the Brighton area, in later years the locomotive pullled steam specials around the South East, before being decomissioned in 1963.
Opened in 1846, Brighton Locomotive Works was producing steam locomotives by 1852 and preceded Crewe as a major centre for locomotive manufacturer. Many famous Chief Engineers worked out of Brighton, with OV Bulleid being the last of the Southern era. During the BR period RA Riddles was based there creating many of the UK's Standard Locomotives and it was in the drawing office there that he designed the last British Railways steam engine, the Class 9F.
